DIY Coat Hanger Christmas Tree
I love crafts, especially during the holidays! My favorite craft for the Christmas season is a beautiful Christmas tree that you can make yourself with items that you probably already have around the house! I learned how to make this in 5th grade, and I never forgot how! That’s how easy it is to do! So gather up your kids and your Christmas decorations!
Wire Coat Hangers (6)
1 Set of 70 or 100 count Christmas lights (your choice of color)
Garland (About 3 sets)
- Gather your coat hangers up and divide into sets of 2.2. Put hangers together like so:3. Squeeze the rounded parts of the hanger around the side as shown in the picture. Repeat this 3 times on each set of 2. Tape where all edges meet.4. Put each set inside of each other so the tree can stand. Tape where edges meet. Like this:5. Now that your base is stable, it’s time for the lights! I either use 100 ct. or 70 ct. I prefer 70, so there’s less extra lights. But, I can’t always find the color I want in 70ct. MAKE SURE YOU START AT THE BOTTOM! Also, make sure you start taping on the side with the plug, or else you will end with the plug at the top. Leave enough room so that you can plug it in from a decent distance. Start taping anywhere at the bottom. Tape above and below EACH bulb. Once you reach the top of one side, go down the other. This part can be modified any way you like. As long as the lights get on there, it will work! When you’re finished it should look like this:6. Start wrapping your garland. Start wrapping from the top. I usually tape the first piece on the top, so it doesn’t pop off. Wrap all the way to the bottom. I usually have to use 3 packages of garland (about 30-36feet). But, it really just depends on the thickness of your garland. The thicker it is, the less garland you need. Once it’s wrapped, it’s finished! Plug it in and enjoy! Finished product:Hope you enjoy this as much as I have!
