There has been a lot of media coverage on the story of a small child being drug into a lake by an alligator last night. I have seen an outpour of love for the parents, and an outpour of hate as well.
To the ones who choose to hate:
I made no comment on the story of the gorilla because it caused such an outrage for people, and I typically don’t like to get into argumentative things on the Internet. However, this time, shame on you. Shame on every person that says “I feel bad for the family BUT they should have known.” They should have KNOWN that their child would be viciously mauled on their vacation to “the happiest place on earth?” What? Are you delusional? Do you think that those parents EVER thought something like this could happen to them? People like you make me so absolutely disgusted.
First of all, Let’s look at a perspective I have yet to see on the Internet today. There are plenty of careless parents out there in the world. But do you think those parents would pay THOUSANDS of dollars to take their kids from Nebraska to Disney World? No. These parents clearly wanted to have an enjoyable vacation. Now, life is a nightmare for them.
Second of all, if you have a thought in your mind that this is the parent’s fault, then I guarantee you have no kids. Those parents tried to wrestle an alligator to save their child. I promise you they are feeling guilty enough without all the keyboard heroes of the world judging their parenting.
Lastly, if you are to ever have your own children, I hope you NEVER take your eyes off of them, even for a second. I hope you are the most perfect parent this world has ever seen. I hope your child never falls on your watch. I hope your child never runs off in a grocery store. I hope you never make a mistake. Because as soon as you do, these tables will be turned.
Sending continued prayers to this poor family. I can’t and don’t even want to imagine the hurt and pain they will feel from now until forever. I support you, and will pray for your loss through this horrific time.
